Sales Metrics is the analysis of the current distribution.  The who, what, why, how much and where questions that provide the information needed to measure sales.  In the Free Publication world, sales is the movement of product.  The metrics are the quantitative measurements we can use to see if we are in the right markets and the right place.  Analysis of what happens can open the doors to determine what needs to be done.

Questions like:

  • Are we following the original business plan ?

  • Have we made the appropriate adjustments to our distribution ?

  • If we want to increase distribution, do we know where ?

  • Are we maximizing the advertising revenue ?

  • Could we do better ?

  • Are we just busy but not making a difference ?

If you have a plan, the above metrics can only be analyzed with an up-to-date integrated database of information that reflects what has happened in the past (history).  By coding the distribution locations by category (what they do) and by market id (where they are), you can vary the drop quantities to maximize your movement.  Historical analysis can answers the above questions.  If you want to maximize the effectiveness of increasing advertising revenue, you need to answer the above questions.  e-PDS  can be the tool you need.  Below are snap shots of how you can vary your analysis that will answer your questions.
